Store Asset Coordinates - Work Order

Store Asset Coordinates - Work Order

Assets can sometimes be large and span a long or wide area. If this is the case, users can determine precise asset coordinates and store them so that the asset's exact location can be referenced in the future.
Note that this feature only applies to GIS assets and that these coordinates are stored on the work order itself, not the asset; using the asset on a different work order will not pull up the saved asset coordinates.

Navigating to the Work Order Module

To navigate to the Work Order module:
  1. From the NEXGEN dashboard, hover over "Maintenance" in the blue navigation bar to the left.
  2. Click "Work Order."

Storing Asset Coordinates

Storing asset coordinates is useful for pinpointing the exact location of a GIS asset on a work order. For example, even if the asset spans a large or lengthy area (e.g. a pipe that spans an entire street), you can drop a pin to select the exact place where work needs to be done.

To store asset coordinates:
  1. Navigate to the Work Order module.
  2. Open a work order.
    1. Ensure that you are selecting a work order with GIS assets attached.
  3. Click "Map" in the top right corner of the module.
  4. You will be taken to Map View with the asset highlighted on the map. Open the map's toolbar (denoted by a button marked with three horizontal lines).
  5. Click the globe icon at the bottom of the map toolbar. This will open the GIS asset coordinate selection tools.
  6. Select the asset location in one of two ways:
    1. Either drop a pin on top of the exact location of the asset, or
    2. Draw a shape over the exact area of an asset using one of the selection tools in the GIS asset selection toolbar.
  7. The asset coordinates will be stored. These will be visible the next time this particular work order's map is opened.
    1. Note that these asset coordinates are specific to this work order; the coordinates will not appear on any other work order even if those work orders are using the same asset.
